  We own two historic houses in Hannibal, MO which is a town 20+ miles southwest of Quincy, IL. These are glorious houses from (as Mark Twain coined it) "The Gilded Age" so we were quite particular about the sanding of the unfinished floors in some of the rooms. Fortunately a neighbor recommended this floor sander from Quincy, citing the wonderful job he did on a house just around the corner from us - a large Arts & Crafts. We called Tom and he came over to review and bid the jobs. Tom is a personable, likable guy and we had a good feeling about him from the get-go. I should mention that we are long-distance home owners, so most jobs we need have to be done during our absence. Tom provided us with a couple of very affordable quotes - one for each house - and we commenced to use him. Tom and his crew started on the "big" house and kept us informed of every step while we were 2,000 miles away. The floors were stained exactly to the color of adjacent finished floors and were polyurethaned to two coats. Though we couldn't see the work immediately, we listened to the raves of our neighbors who were able to review the results. During the home show which took place shortly after, folks ooh'd and ahh'd at the floors. We were so delighted, we've decided to use him again for our other house. You won't go wrong with this courteous, thorough and conscientious contractor.
